While reading yet another article on the glories of kettlebell workouts, the author described her quest for finding KB’s for less money (the are quite expensive). She mentioned she headed on over to her Freecycle site to look and did, in fact, find some.
I have been going through my “stuff” over the past year and giving so much to Goodwill. Which is good. However, this site is a bit different and I wanted to share it with you. I thought this would really be nice for some heavy, furniture-type items I want to donate and yet they won’t come and pick up.
On Freecycle, one can OFFER items and request (WANTED) items. You can set up your account for your specific area – mine is Cleveland, East – so that it is easy to exchange within a reasonable radius. Here’s a note from my group:
The Cleveland_East Freecycle™ group is open to all who want to “recycle” that special something rather than throw it away. Whether it’s a chair, a fax machine, piano or an old door, feel free to post it. Or maybe you’re looking to acquire something yourself!
One main rule: everything posted must be free. This group is part of The Freecycle Network, a nonprofit organization and a movement of people interested in keeping good stuff out of landfills. Check out freecycle.org for other cities and info on the movement.
I really love this idea! I have already posted a few items and responded to a person who is looking for winter clothing for women. I have a ton of stuff that is high quality and I would love to have someone benefit.
I’m going back to look for kettlebells for me! I need a 56 lb. one.
Let me know what you think of this site!
