The West Side Market – Cleveland, OH

by Sheila on September 5, 2010

In my quest to eat only organic and preferably locally grown, I try to get to the farmers market every Saturday on Shaker Square. The highlights are  grass-fed cheese and pastured meat and it comes fresh from the farm!

As I sit here this morning listening to the thundering planes from the Air Show downtown, I’m reminded of all of the cool places in Cleveland and why I love my town!

Recently, I have revisited the West Side Market.  My favorite veggie vendor is the Basketeria.  Check out their website and be sure to visit them at the Market if you are in Cleveland.

The Market is such a cool place.  The building is historic. The food is fresh. The smells are amazing! The people are fun!  If you are a foodie, you will love it.  If you are not really, you will still love it!

I’m doing the traditional barbeque today with some ribs (w/an Asian twist – thank you, Ming), grilled veggies and some spicey coleslaw.  Man, I would love to be having some cornbread also…but alas…no more grains! I’m sure we will forget all about cornbread when we begin eating everything else!

I’m including a video clip of the Market; hope you enjoy it:

After spending time in Berkeley, I think Cleveland is beyond beautiful in comparison!
