Old Nonsense

by Sheila on July 22, 2010

Finish each day and be done with it. You have done what you could; some blunders and absurdities have crept in; forget them as soon as you can. Tomorrow is a new day; you shall begin it serenely and with too high a spirit to be encumbered with your old nonsense.

Emerson

Quotes are often used on blogs and websites.   Quotes inspire us.  Most coaching sites use the same quotes and not to sound too harsh, but it gets old.  Unfortunately, we (or at least I) become  jaded by too much of a good thing – in anything.

I love Joseph Campbell but if I NEVER see, “follow your bliss”  again, it will be too soon.

Emerson is definitely my go-to guy for inspiration.  It is pretty amazing that his words ring true all these years later.  My favorite thoughts on consistency were spoken by him.  He was brilliant!

I used this quote today because it seems to really capture how I’m feeling lately AND doens’t it just make sense, for God’s sake?

Personally, I’m thinking more of mistakes or blunders from a bit longer ago than just today…  I love calling it “old nonsense.”

I really want to let go of replaying some stuff…especially if it was a movie that I walked out on to begin with!

I’m getting pretty good at it though.  Quotes help remind me…who I am and that I’m human.  I like that about them.

When I transfered my old website over to this new platform, I dumped all of my quotes and told my coach the only quote I’d ever have on it (besides referencing in a post) would be my own words.  Still waiting on that to show up.  It’s coming.

Until then, I do kinda miss my Grandma Moses quote:

“And life is what we make it, always has been, always will be.”

I never saw this on any other coach site and I had numerous negative feedback comments about it when I launched my old site.  So, it feels almost like mine.

How about you?  Like quotes?  Not?  What is a favorite?
