I watched the Emmy’s this year because I wanted to see what happened with the Temple Grandin mini-series. Grandin is a world famous animal scientist and she is autistic. She is fascinating. I met her once at a book signing at Case Western Reserve University in Cleveland. It was very interesting to just watch her and listen to how she communicates.
Well, OK – and I also wanted to see how my guy, Dexter, was looking.
I don’t watch much TV; I usually only rent Showtime and HBO-type series on DVD. I do, however, watch Friday Night Lights on regular network TV and the coach (also my guy!) was up for his 1st Emmy in this role. He didn’t win, nor did Dex. That crazy John Lithgow did when for his guest role this past season on Dexter. No surprise!
But here’s why I really watched. I heard Ricky Gervais was going to give an award. I will watch him any time I can. He is the funniest person I have ever seen. I became a fan when stumbling on the BBC original The Office. Gervais created this character who has since been duplicated in many countries including the US version that is very lame, IMO. One only has to watch the original to know what I’m talking about. It is the ONLY DVD set I have ever purchased because I couldn’t stand the idea that I might never get to see it again! Soo funny!
Ricky Gervais is brilliant. He’s a genius and he is nuts! He will be hosting the Golden Globes for the 2nd year early next year. I’ll watch that awards show because of him…and I do like predicting the winners of movie awards!
He did not disappoint on the Emmy’s; he added some real humor in a show lacking it!
Here’s a favorite clip of him doing a faux training video for Microsoft UK playing his character, David Brent, from The Office. Hope you enjoy it!
